Golf Rules and Safety
Golf is shared space: a considerate pace and clear safety rules make a visit better for everyone. Course rules apply to members, visitors and hotel package guests alike. Staff may stop play or ask a group to leave if behaviour creates a risk. An advance booking does not override a safety closure, age restriction or course eligibility requirement. Please ask the golf team when uncertain rather than assuming a rule on one course applies identically to the other.
Visitor information
- Dress
- On Oakridge wear a collared or golf-specific sports shirt with tailored trousers, shorts or a golf skirt; denim and football shirts are not permitted. Meadow permits clean casual sportswear, but swimwear and bare feet are not allowed.
- Footwear
- Soft-spike or spikeless golf shoes are required on Oakridge. Trainers with adequate grip are permitted on Meadow and the range. Metal spikes are prohibited on both courses and indoors.
- Lightning
- If staff suspend play for lightning, stop immediately and follow directions to a substantial building. Do not shelter under isolated trees or continue to finish a hole. Re-entry requires the golf team's express clearance.
- Dogs on courses
- Pet dogs are not allowed on either course, the practice greens or the range hitting area. Assistance-dog arrangements should be agreed with the golf team; the hotel pet policy does not grant course access.
- Spectators
- Meadow allows its published child-supervisor arrangement. Other non-playing course access requires golf-desk permission before the round; the estate's walking route is the alternative for ordinary visitors.
- Lost balls
- No. Entering water, maintenance areas or adjacent private land to retrieve a ball is prohibited. A lost ball does not justify crossing a safety barrier or retrieving range balls for course play.
- Alcohol and conduct
- Staff may refuse or stop play where a person's conduct or apparent intoxication presents a risk. Bringing outside alcohol onto the courses is not permitted. Abusive or discriminatory behaviour is not accepted.
